The new SmartThermostat will feature a glass front and will have enhanced wireless capabilities with the new unit offering 5GHz Wi-Fi networks along with Bluetooth. It will also add Spotify Connect and Alexa calling. Yes, you heard that right Spotify music through your thermostat!

On the remote sensor front, its reported it will provide quicker presence detection and greater range without compromising battery life. The magnetic base also offers the user different placement options.

It also looks like Ecobee may could get rid of its numbering scheme. Using Ecobee SmartThermostat and Ecobee SmartSensor rather than an Ecobee5 or Ecobee4+.

According to the Lowes website, the Ecobee Smart Thermostat will be priced CAD$329. US pricing is unknown, but keep checking back for details.
