Neato vacuums to roll out Siri Shortcuts

Neato Robotics the robot vacuum company has announced support for Siri Shortcuts, making it easier than ever to clean your home.

The current range already can already be controlled using Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and IFTTT.

Neato says Siri Shortcuts will support a variety of user-generated voice commands, with four different actions, including.

  • Start cleaning
  • Pause cleaning
  • Dock / Go to home
  • Zone cleaning

While this is good news for Apple users, it appears full HomeKit functionality is unlikely to arrive, as Apple does not have a have a vacuum category.

However because Shortcuts will be integrated into HomeKit with the introduction of iOS13 later this year, it may mean that you could include your Neato in HomeKit automations.

With the new integration, Apple owners will instruct Neato’s range vacuums to clean in designated zones and even stay away from No-Go Lines. Neato has also confirmed the following vacuums as supported, D3, D4, D5, D6 and D7.
