IKEA smart blinds to launch in Europe in August, US in October

IKEA has finally confirmed the launch of the delayed smart blinds both for Europe and the US. The smart motorised blinds will hit Europe in August and the US in October, no other geographies confirmed.

The smart blinds were initially planned to launch in the US in April and Europe during February, but IKEA delayed the launch to allow more time to make them smarter apparently

The smart blinds will work with the company’s Trådfri smart home app, and through that, with Alexa, HomeKit, and Google Assistant.

Europe launch

For the launch in Europe, users will be able to buy the FYRTUR and KADRILJ smart blinds with price ranging from 99 EUR and 155 EUR.

You will be available to buy them in the following sizes

  • 100x195xm
  • 120x195cm
  • 140x195cm
  • 60×195cm
  • 80×195cm

US launch

Ikea has also confirmed that the US will only be getting the Fyrtur blackout shades, and not the less opaque Kadrilj model. The Fyrtur shades will cost between $129 — $179 and will come in the following sizes.

  • 27×76 3⁄4″
  • 30×76 3⁄4″
  • 32×76 3⁄4″
  • 34×76 3⁄4″
  • 36×76 3⁄4″
  • 38×76 3⁄4″
  • 48×76 3⁄4″
