Hive Home to finally get HomeKit support in 2019

In the UK Hive Home is a popular choice for control central heating and Hot water. Hive’s thermostat already works with Amazon Alexa and it now looks like Hive Home will support HomeKit in 2019.

British Gas introduced Hive Home back in 2013 and ever since then users have been crying out for HomeKit support. Over the years the company has promised HomeKit support, but only suggested it was “coming soon”

Now it appears via the Hive user forum that Hive Home will get HomeKit support in 2019.

We are very aware that you and the rest of our loyal customers have been waiting a long time for us to become compatible with Apple HomeKit. We’ve been working really hard in the background to make this happen and we’re really pleased to say we are committing to delivering this in 2019!

Whilst this is far from being a guarantee of HomeKit is coming to Hive Home, as seen with Ring who has promised HomeKit integration have so far come to nothing. But this is the closest Hive has come to confirming a date for HomeKit support.Hive Siri Shortcut support

If you cannot wait for HomeKit support, then you can use Hive with Siri Shortcuts. These Shortcuts give you Siri control over your Hive heating. While they are not official HomeKit support for Hive, it is a step forward in the right direction.
