Garmin Edge Explore GPS cycling computer packed with features
Garmin has announced the Edge explore which is a feature packed GPS cycling computer ready for the road with routing and cycling safety awareness features.
Garmin has traditionally launched an Explorer range with an Edge model, but I think they have got the message that no one wants to buy them at the stupid prices they released them at, so this new Edge Explore priced at $249 might be just the cycling computer people have been looking for
Route Planning Made Simple
Create routes directly on Edge Explore 1000 using the preloaded map and points of interest. Simply set the direction and distance the Edge Explorer will do the rest.
One thing to note is that Garmin does not include Trendline routing like found in the Edge 1030, but in my experience its pretty much the same
Safer Cycling Environment
When it comes to safety features, Edge Explore plays nice with Garmin Varia products. This means you can pair it with the RTL511 bike radar for alerts on traffic coming from behind, up to 140 meters away. The UT800 smart light lights up the road ahead of you and adjusts to your speed. If you happen to be in an unfortunate accident, Edge Explore will automatically send your location to pre-selected emergency contacts.
The Edge Explorer is packed with smart features with text messages that will display on the screen and the bike computer comes with LiveTrack, GroupTrack and rider-to-rider messaging, first featured on the Edge 1030
