The Garmin Fenix 5 Plus has been on users wrists for just over 2 months now with only Deezer and iHeartRadio as music on your wrist, but users were limited to downloading personal tracks or playlists, but no more.Spotify on the Fenix 5 Plus

Spotify comes to Garmin

But now, Spotify joins the music on your wrist on the Fenix 5 Plus series with its own mobile app. When connected to Wi-Fi, premium Spotify subscribers can download playlists to a Fenix 5 Plus watch so they can listen to music without their smartphone nearby. However it does have a limitation, you cannot download tracks or stream music without a smartphone paired because the Fenix 5 Plus does not have a mobile chip like the Apple Watch.

Currently, the Spotify app for Garmin will only work on Fenix 5 Plus devices, but I suspect based on Garmin’s previous record it will be released for other Garmin devices like the Forerunner 645 and the Vivoactive 3 Music fairly quickly. Garmin normally tests new features on one product like and then rolls it out across compatible ranges and I suspect this is the case with Spotify on the Fenix 5 Plus.Download Spotify for Garmin

Fenix 5 Plus users can download the Spotify app from the Connect IQ store today.
