Strava Beacon now compatible with Garmin LiveTrack
Users of Garmin Edge computers can now benefit from even greater integration with Strava, with the Strava Beacon safety feature now being integrated with Garmin LiveTrack.
For those who don’t know, Strava Beacon is a feature that allows riders to choose three emergency contacts who will then receive a text message with a link to a tracking page, allowing them to check the rider’s location in real-time. This means that if you’re fifteen minutes late home after getting a puncture, your partner won’t have to worry.
Garmin Livetrack and Strava Beacon
This is now linked to Garmin LiveTrack (a similar feature that never quite caught on), meaning that you will be able to use Strava Beacon even when you’re recording a ride on your Garmin, rather than through the Strava app.
“We received a lot of positive feedback when we introduced Beacon this summer,” says Aaron Forth, Strava’s Chief Product Officer. “We also had lots of athletes say they wanted to use Beacon with their Garmin devices. We’re happy to see that Beacon has become so valuable so quickly, and excited to extend Beacon’s safety benefits to Garmin athletes.”
