Last week a leak of the Garmin Edge 1030 was made via UK cycling retailer Cycling republic and these images were grabbed by GPSrumours before they were taken down. Since the launch of the Edge 1000 people have been asking when the next version of the Edge 1000 will be released and the question has been partially answered in the form of the Garmin Edge 1030 which will feature a bigger screen and better battery life, but I am holding my breath on that one as the Garmin Edge 1000 battery life didnt live up to the advertised specifications. Now people have seen the specs attention has now turned to when the Garmin Edge 1030 will be released?

Garmin Edge 1030 release date?
During the month of the September, there is 2 key trade shows, the first being Eurobike between the 30th August 2017 and the 2nd September 2017 in Friedrichshafen and the IFA between 1st and 6th September in Belin. Based on this and the fact the Garmin Edge 1030 was listed on a UK retailers site I predict the new Edge 1030 will be announced around the 1st of September and the release date for purchasing being by the end of September 2017, so if you are lucky enough you could have the Garmin Edge 1030 in your hand by the end of September if supplies are not limited.
- Announced around the 30th Aug – 2nd September 2017
- Available to purchase mid to end september 2017

GARMIN EDGE 1030 – NEW FEATURES
Based on the leak last week and examining the pictures the Garmin Edge 1030 will feature some key new features, with one of them being the ability to send and receive messages from other riders. I am not sure if this will be a feature rolled out to other Edge devices such as the Garmin Edge 1000 or the Edge 820, but I suspect this will need to be rolled out to other Garmin Edge devices in order for this to be a hit new feature. The other new feature will be the inclusion of “popularity-derived routing”. But I am not sure how this works and it maybe something like Strava’s route planning feature
- 3.5-inch high-resolution display
- Popularity-derived routing
- Rider to ride messaging
- Up to 16h battery life
- Improve cycling awareness features
