Fitbit Versa 2 leaked suggests Alexa support

Following various leaks, it looks like the Fitbit Versa 2 may be released as soon as the end of this month. The wearable will be the 2nd generation in the Versa line and is rumoured to feature Alexa support.

Fitbit has already shipped several new devices in the last 12 months. This includes the Fitbit Versa Lite Edition, Fitbit Inspire HR, Fitbit Inspire and Fitbit Ace 2 and the Fitbit Versa 2 will be a welcome improvement on the first version.

Fitbit has designed the Versa 2 with one physical button on the left. We get the same square display, with slim bezels and aluminium casing. The back of the Versa 2 features the new PurePulse heart rate sensor.Fitbit Versa 2 designs

Fitbit Versa 2 features

What we know so far is that Versa 2 will come with the following features

  • 18+ exercise modes
  • sleep tracking features
  • 24/7 Heart Rate support
  • water-resistance down to 50 meters
  • Music playback and storage for 300+ songs
  • Fitbit Pay.
  • Battery life is around 4 days.Fitbit Versa 2 box

The most surprising new feature of the upcoming smartwatch, it will feature Alexa support. You will ask the watch for weather reports in your area, along with other voice commands. But because the Versa 2 does not feature a mobile connection, it’s not clear if it will work without a Wi-Fi connection.

  1. It 100% DOES have Alexa support. You can read it on the box from the image if you go to the original image and turn off the resizing.
    Versa 1 has WiFi.
posisbly V2’s Alexa could work via a microphone in earbuds (unlikely) or a mic in the versa 2 but then WR50m becomes more challenging with a mic.
If Alexa somehow works via the phone then surely it’s useless as you could use the voice activiation on the phone?. If you’re at home looking for your Alex speakers to return the answer then surely they would have heard the question.

  2. It will have to use the data connection via the smartphone for outside the home. The only challenge I see (not 100% on this) iOS may limit what an app can use when paired with a third party device. But we will have to see.

Inside the home, yes I get the point about Alexa picking up from a “main” device. But it would still be useful let’s say upstairs and the main device is downstairs. I do this all the time with Siri and my phone
