The developer behind numerous Homekit smart home products, Elgato Systems, announced today that it will rebrand itself as Eve Systems with a focus to continuing to develop Apple HomeKit smart home accessories.
Eve makes loads of HomeKit compatible hardware including sensors, plugs, switches, and most recently sprinkler controllers, but Elgato originally started out selling video game accessories and with this focus on smart home as sold that division to Corsair which is another manufacturer of gaming peripherals.
Elgato Systems founder, Markus Fest, will be the CEO of the new Eve Systems. In the press release announcing the change, Fest said, “The [Elgato] brand has been with us for almost 20 years and we are obviously a little sad to see it go, but Corsair is a fantastic company and will be a great new home for Elgato. At the same time, our Eve product line will benefit from a focused team and a dedicated organization.”
Eve says it will exhibit at IFA Berlin this year and will introduce several new products, so let’s see what else they bring to the smart home (August 31 to September 05, hall 6.2 / booth 104).
